New Delhi, June 21, 2025 – Mahindra & Mahindra is set
to unveil a major mid-life update to its popular Scorpio‑N SUV, introducing two
headline features—Level‑2 ADAS and
a panoramic sunroof—while
retaining its existing design and engine lineup.
What’s
New
·
Level‑2 ADAS Suite
The updated Scorpio‑N will include advanced driver
assistance systems likely mirroring those in the XUV700, such as high‑beam
assist, lane-keep and departure warning, adaptive cruise control, forward
collision and autonomous emergency braking, traffic sign recognition, and lane‑centre
assist.
·
Panoramic
Sunroof
Upgrading beyond the current single-pane electric sunroof,
the new model will introduce a full panoramic glass roof—lifting the premium
aesthetic and cabin openness.
Powertrain & Mechanical Package
·
Engines carry over: the 2.0‑litre
turbo-petrol (203 PS/370 Nm MT; 380 Nm AT) and 2.2‑litre turbo-diesel
(130 PS/300 Nm RWD; 175 PS/370 Nm 4WD). Transmission options include 6‑speed
manual or torque‑converter automatic.
·
No mechanical or design
changes—expect the existing body style and chassis to remain unchanged.
Positioning & Market Strategy
·
New Variant Strategy: Both
CarWale and Carlelo report that Mahindra may launch these features as part of a
new top-tier variant, rather than across the board.
·
Festival-Year Launch: Timing
is pegged around the festive season—likely in October or November—to leverage
consumer spending peaks .
·
Export Compliance: ADAS
additions are particularly crucial for export markets such as Australia, where
autonomous emergency braking has been mandatory for new models since March 1,
2023.
Pricing & Market Position
·
No official prices yet, but
expect a premium over existing models that range from ₹13.99 lakh to
₹25.15 lakh (ex-showroom).
·
With Hyundai Creta and MG
Astor offering ADAS and panoramic roofs, Mahindra is clearly aiming to keep
Scorpio‑N competitive at the ₹20–25 lakh bracket.
What
This Means
·
Consumer Appeal: ADAS and
panoramic roof are now hot-ticket features in mid-size SUVs; this upgrade keeps
Scorpio‑N in the running.
·
Segment Leadership:
Currently India’s #2 in 7-seater SUVs with combined Scorpio‑N and Classic sales
of ~14.4 k units in May (‘+5% YoY’)—the facelift could reinforce its
market position.
·
Competition
Response: Directly challenges well-equipped rivals like Hyundai Creta,
making Scorpio‑N a more compelling option in its segment.
